So each profession is going to get an Elite Specialization in Heart of Thorns. Each Elite Specialization will give the profession access to a new weapon the profession normally doesn't have access to.
We already know of four of the combinations. Ranger/Staff, Engineer/Hammer, Necromancer/Greatsword, and Mesmer/Shield have all basically been confirmed by video or imagery.
So, here are the professions and the weapons I'd like to see the rest get.
Guardian - I've heard people asking for Longbow. I think it'd be useful since the Guardian's Staff isn't the best long-range weapon. I think it works pretty well.
Warrior - Here's the tricky part; Warriors have the largest number of possible weapons they can equip. They basically have every melee weapon and most non-magical weapons (staff/scepter). The only exception to the melee comment is Daggers. Off-hand, they can't use a Torch, and focus is more magic-y. I wouldn't have a problem with Warriors getting Torch off-hand. They already can use so many weapons. I think it'd be pretty balanced.
Thief - They already have close combat weapons. They also have pistols and a short bow. So most likely not a longbow. I guess Rifle works? Maybe they will get a off-hand weapon. Mesmer seems to be only getting a shield off-hand weapon. Perhaps a sword off-hand so they can dual-wield swords? I think Torch could work, too. How many bandits do we see lighting stuff on fire? Though if Warriors get Torch, I guess that does leave Thief with Rifle.
Elementalist - What I REALLY WANT TO SEE is dual pistols. Dual pistols are the coolest weapon combination in the game, in my opinion. I'd love to see elemental bullets and all the cool tricks Elementalists could do with two pistols.
I've left Revenant off the list, because we know very little about the profession. We might not even know all the weapons it can use normally. So until we find out more, I'm just not going to think about it's Elite Specialization's unique weapon.
TLDR;
Guardian/Longbow, Warrior/Torch, Thief/Rifle, Elementalist/Pistols
I think that'd be pretty cool.
